Featured Alumnus - December 2006

Kien Trung Tran was born on February 10 in Charlottesville, VA. He graduated from UT Arlington with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Sc. & Engg. and an MBA in Mgmt in 2004 and 2006, respectively. At present, he is a self-employed software developer. He is also a pianist at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Arlington, TX. His other interests include west coast swing dancing and computer games. He loves fast cars and is a fan of ice hockey.

 

Featured Alumnus - November 2006

Lisa Mai Bengfort nee Vu was born on March 1 in Fort Worth, TX. She graduated from UT Arlington with a Bachelor of Business Adminis tration in Marketing in 2004. Married to Jonathan Bengfort in April 2006, she resides in west Fort Worth and works as an Asst. Mktg. Mgr. at Ridgmar Mall. She loves furry animals, especially her dog, Boy. Her hobbies include cooking and scrap booking. She sends this message to all of you - Mavs fever. Catch it. Spread it.

 

Featured Alumnus - October 2006

Stephen Lecler Olivier was born on February 24 in Baton Rouge, LA. In 2005, he graduated from UTA with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science & Engg. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Computer Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. An accomplished scholar, he completed an internship with IBM this past summer. A connoisseur of European beer, he also loves Cajun cuisine and swing dancing.

 

Featured Alumnus - September 2006

Erica Elizabeth Johnson was born on September 22. In 2005, she graduated from UTA with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing and a Bachelor of Arts in French. Currently residing in Arlington, TX, she is on an internship with the Dallas- Fort Worth International Airport. She recently returned from Mamers, France, where she spent 8 months teaching English to High school students. She loves baking, sewing, singing and dancing.

 

Featured Alumnus - August 2006

Lap Duc Trinh was born in Vietnam on October 12 and granted US citizenship in 2004. He graduated from UTA with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engg. in 2004. He worked for a firm in Poulsbo, WA, for a year and a half before returning to Texas. He now resides in Fort Worth and works for the City of Dallas. He was the President of the UCC for two years and currently is the Vice President of the UCCAA. He is a proud Maverick and a strong supporter of UTA sport.

 

Featured Alumnus - July 2006

Megan Jared Taylor was born on July 19 in Port Hueneme, CA., and graduated from UTA with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1999. The following year, she lived in Mexico with a family and obtained a degree in Spanish as a second language. At present, she works as a nurse at Garcia Elementary School in Grand Prairie, and resides in Arlington, TX, with her dog, Spaz, and two cats, Mouse and Smudge. She travels to Mexico every summer and is interested in Mexican culture.

 

Featured Alumnus - June 2006

Marisa Alvarado was born on August 23 in Austin, TX and now resides in her hometown, San Marcos. She graduated from UTA with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism in 2005. She dedicated 9 months of service with NET Ministries, where she and a team of volunteers traveled throughout the country with one mission: To challenge young Catholics to love Christ and embrace the Life of the Church. Her interests include photography, pilates, two-stepping in heels, and changing the world.

 

Featured Alumnus - May 2006

Russell Lawrence Redder, P.E., was born on January 16 in Fort Worth, Texas, and graduated from UTA with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engg. in 1999. He currently works as an Environmental engineer for Freese & Nichols in Fort Worth. He appeared on Jeopardy in April 2003, where he won $2,000 (and the home game). He recently participated in and finished his first Cowtown Marathon. Besides running, he also enjoys skiing black diamonds and fixing his 1908 bungalow.

 

Featured Alumnus - April 2006

Ruben Garcia was born on October 14 in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated from UTA with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture in 2005. He is currently working as technical staff assistant in the Architecture and Environmental Design Center for the School of Architecture at UT Arlington. He is an avid surfer and an accomplished triathlete. Although he currently resides in Arlington, Texas, he plans to move to San Diego, California, in May 2006 to advance his career in architecture.

 

Featured Alumnus - March 2006

Sonya Huong Loughran nee Ainsworth was born on May 15 in Saigon, Vietnam and is the youngest of 4 children. She graduated from UTA with a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry in 1995 and a Masters of Education in Teaching in 1999. She is currently an AP Chemistry teacher at Colleyville Heritage High School and was recently nominated Teacher of the Year. She married Matthew Loughran in December 1999. They live in North Arlington, Texas with their dog Lester.

 

Featured Alumnus - February 2006

Kyle Ray Walterscheid was born on the 19th of August in Muenster, Texas and is the youngest of 7 children. He graduated from UTA with a Bachelors in Civil Engg. in 1989 and a Masters in Structural Engg. in 1993. He worked in TXDoT for 5 years before being called to the priesthood. He was ordained on the 25th of May, 2002.

Our Mission

The purpose of the University Catholic Community Alumni Association (UCCAA) is to promote a continuing sense of community based in the teachings of Jesus Christ and His Church among former member of the University Catholic Community (formerly the Newman Club). Also, the UCCAA actively tries to foster deeper concern among its member for the welfare of the University Catholic Community (UCC).
